[THC] hops dryer

Not a problem for anyone to borrow it.  Just be sure to drop me an email so
I know where it is and that I get it back at the end of the Fall.

You can sped it up by turning up the temp some, but you don't want to over
do it or you'll end up chasing away the lovely volatiles.  I think I have a
spool of ni-chrome wire somewhere if someone is looking at building their
own.  All you need is a small PC fan and a dimmer switch to vary the heat of
the coils.

John Blichmann made a nifty little hops dryer some years ago, and I'm 
using it again right now.  It's not real fast, but I don't think there's 
a way to dry hops real fast.  John has used it once or twice but he has 
also lent it out quite a bit.

It can dry about 2 lb of fresh hops at a time, and it takes something 
like 36 hours the way I do it, slowly with very little heat.

Anybody else want to borrow it?  You might well observe that it's not 
actually mine to lend, but I am suggesting that John might be happy to 
say yes to another interested person.  And he's reading these messages I 
think.

And what we really need is for somebody to scale that thing up a little, 
make one that dries about 10 lbs of hops at a time.  It's a wonderfully 
simple design and I bet it would scale up to that capacity pretty easily.
