1) Paul Edwards sent notice about the Jan 27 FBI Heavy Hydrometer
meeting (and friendly competition); it appears below. (Note that while
the comp is only open to FBI members, homebrewers from neighbor clubs
would be warmly welcome to attend, observe, share and make happy.....)
2) Lloyd has probably got all the Winter Warmer volunteers needed, but
it has not been posted at the BB nor sent to the list as far as I know.
Lloyd? How we doing?
------ FBI mtg notice from Paul Edwards -------------------------
The 13th Annual Heavy Hydrometer competition will be held on Saturday,
January 27, 2007 at the home of Paul & Connie Edwards, 1310 East Kessler
Blvd. (Indianapolis, Broad Ripple area)
Please be sure to park on one of the side streets, either on Indianola
(to the east) or on Haverford (to the west).
Details:
Meeting will start at 2 pm. Judging will begin at 2:30 pm, so ALL beers
being entered MUST be there by that time.
The BJCP style categories for this year's Heavy Hydrometer are:
9E Scottish Strong Ale
12C Baltic Porter
13F Russian Imperial Stout
19A Old Ale
19B English Barleywine
19C American Barleywine
go to http://www.bjcp.org/styles04/ for details on these styles.
The competition is open to FBI members in good standing. Each member may
enter ONE beer (Note: not one beer per category. This keeps the playing
field level for all) Each entrant must specify which category their beer
is to be judged as. Each entrant must provide the equivalent of 3 12
ounce bottles of their beer. Judging will be done by all in attendance
using the BJCP 50 point scale. The winning entrant receives the FBI's
Heavy Hydrometer traveling trophy for the next year, and the honor of
hosting the 2008 competition.
Bring your tasting glass, as Paul & Connie probably don't have enough to
go around. Bring a pencil, too, for the same reason!
After the competition, we'll of course sample whatever other beers you
bring and whatever food you bring. Paul will cook a pot of his
award-winning chili.
Meeting will adjourn around 6 pm.
