You would need a pretty assertive fruit to make it through the hops of a pale ale or IPA. I would think this would be particularly true if you are using American hops like: colombus, centennial, cascade, etc.
Someone had a lemon beer at one of the thc meetings last summer. The lemon was pretty assertive. This may go well with citrusy hops. I think they added an entire lemon or two to the fermenter. Not sure though???

We're planning to brew an IPA or Pale Ale in the next week or so.
Has anyone had sucess adding fruit to hoppy beers.
Usually we see raspberry and blueberry in a lighter wheat beer....
and did a little searching on the ole www for hops and fruit without
much success. Is it really so taboo?
Anyone have a recipe they'd be willing to share?
I'm thinking crisp and hoppy with some fruit adding a nice background
element.... (or something)
Warmly,
Melinda
