Jerome would you be into being the in-charge person? The coordinator,
the organization guru/geek.....? :-)

I'm thinking of brewing Fri night at my house. Maybe a batch of stout
for the B Barrel, and maybe a batch of Am pale ale. Everyone's
invited. We will turn the hot tub down to 96 and it'll be a cool tub.

My thinking for this year's event is to take less beer this year (we
took about 12 or 15 gal last year), hide it under the table, and stand
around greeting people and preaching the gospel of homebrew. In general
the glassy-eyed people looking for a fill-up will pass us by, which will
be a good thing.

THE PROBLEM IS that whenever we started "serving" last year, i.e. had
the kegs out and were delivering beer into people's glasses, in about
two winks the people were lined up six wide and five deep, glasses in
outstretched hands, and they were NOT interested in hearing anybody say
"high we're homebrewers and we're here to talk about homebrewing....."

There were several very morale-draining incidents of people getting
totally rude, never these words exactly but the very clear general sense
that most people were thinking essentially SHUT UP AND POUR YOU DUMB ASS
I LINED UP HERE FOR BEER NOT YOUR BLAH BLAH BLAH HOMEBREW BULLSHIT.

This was not just my impression -- it was Lloyd and Joe and me for
almost four hours and they will verify.

It will just take a little subtlety. (1) take 2- L bottles instead of
kegs, maybe ten two-L bottles, several flavors, and basically to share
with people who are not the drink-fast-to-get-my-money's-worth zombies.
There are truly beer lovers at this event, potential homebrewers. (2)
keep the beer kind of out of sight, make sure we are clearly labeled
WE'RE NOT A BREWERY -- WE'RE HERE TO PROMOTE HOMEBREWING.

If Bob O confirms that all can proceed as last year (I just wrote him),
we can have four people get free passes, and those four people would
figure out how many can be gone from the table (sampling) at a time and
for how long.
