Are entries still valid if a male was in the same residence as the brewer at
the time of brewing, or accidentally glanced at a bottle?

Just kidding Linda - I love to give you crap.

Sincerely,

Ladies, start your kettles ---

Actually it's a bit late to start a kettle now for this years QoB.

Nancy and I are going to send some entries, get them ready to ship and
the forms filled out and checks written some weeknight next week.
Anybody else who's interested please get together with us if you wish.
Reply to the list or email me at swihart at purdue.edu

Note that they want THREE bottles (ouch) (but hey promoting women in
brewing is a very worthy cause), and the entry fee is $7 first entry, $5
each after.

Also note in particular the eligibility rule:
"The Queen of Beer Women's Homebrew Competition is open to all
non-commercial, home brewed beer and meads produced by persons of female
gender. Beer produced by or with the assistance of persons of the male
gender is not eligible. "Assistance" is defined as: coaching during the
brewing process, measuring ingredients, performing chemical reaction
and/or timing calculations, racking, bottling or in any other way
manipulating wort or fermented product. Lifting of heavy equipment or
full brewing vessels, milling of grain and operation of a capper device
are permitted. Female competition judges are eligible to enter in
categories other than those they will be judging, since "blind tasting"
will be employed in the judging process. Female competition staff
members, EXCEPT cellar master and registrar are eligible to enter."

If you are interested go read the rest of the information! If your beer
is eligible, and unless you think your beer is absolutely terrible or
you can't afford the shipping and entry fees, consider doing this. It's
great fun and good feedback, and it truly does help promote women in
homebrewing. Sure it's fun to be surrounded by guys at homebrew
meetings and conferences, BUT.....
