Hi brewers and friends --

1.
The May 1 THC Board mtg notes are posted at the website. Start at
http://www.tippyhomebrewers.org/ and use the link that says "what's
here..."

2.
June 25 next meeting, at Black Sparrow, 6 - 9. "Ed/biz" mtg (education
and club business). Less of a social than the mtgs we have in people's
homes, bit more organized and "meeting like" we hope. But with
homebrew! Bring no food, no commercial beers, no kegs, just glass or
plastic bottles of what you have made. We'd like a head count for space
use reasons and for ed/biz materials printing purposes. Ed topics are
National Homebrew Conference report, also a short presentation on a
couple of classic styles that arerepresented on tap at the BS. For more
on the "biz" part, see number 3. below.

3.
We have money in the treasury and we propose to buy some new tasting
glasses (we've broken a lot, substituted small jelly jars), also buying
a club banner for events. But we want ideas from you -- whoever you are
reading this whether you've paid THC dues or not, if you have an idea
and want to share it -- for some project, some cool, club-promoting, fun
thing that will attract and appeal to people, help the club out. The
obvious suggestions are: a portable bar, or a seven tap jockey box.
More club-owned equipment for borrowing or large-shared-batch brewing.
A RIMS system! (No, we dont have that much, I think.) Or maybe we
should "invest" it more. More kegs? (Lotta work, not a big moneymaker,
but fun.) A big raffle? (How legal are raffles? Anybody know this
stuff?) Bring your creative ideas to the Black Sparrow or post them to
the BB or send them to this list....

4.
Competition anyone? Boneyard Brew-off (14th annual) on June 7 needs
you! Enter or judge or steward. It's more fun than should probably be
legal. At least if you're a true beer nerd. You do not have to be a
brewer to be able to judge or steward. You don't even need any
experience to judge, just a serious willingness to learn how to do it.
It's not terrifically hard, and you will be placed with an experienced
judge. (And the local club, B.U.Z.Z., will find a place for you to bunk
if you want to spend the night. Rick and I have been there in 2004 -
2006, missed last year, and are really happy to be going back this
year.) See their competition web page at
https://netfiles.uiuc.edu/ro/www/BoneyardUnionofZymurgicalZealots/brewoff.html

Later,
Linda
